I love my dog to death! My fiance got him when he was just a couple weeks old. I was in the military at the time and we were in different states, so by the time I got to meet him, he was already four months young. I’ve been there for him since then and taught him everything he know’s. He’s had bad luck through the short time he’s been growing up. He’s a year and almost three months and he’s gone through Mange which was mild and as of yesterday he’s been diagnosed with cancer. In a couple days, on the of the 1st of May, he will join the Tripawds club. I can’t believe he has cancer, especially at such a young age and with the hope that it was a fungal infection that could get treated. It broke our hearts, but we are trying to stay positive. Been looking at the web for answers and came across this site. It’s nice to see there are other dogs who were able to over come an obstacle like losing a leg. So I want to tell my story of my dog, and maybe it can help others, maybe not. But I love my dog and I just want to put him out there and honor him. He’s my best friend. He’s my son.
Welcome Hunter! Wishing you a quick and uneventful recovery! We are all here for you so keep us updated.
welcome hunter – we just love a guy who can wear a striped tie so well!!! sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but yes, being a tripawd is going to be ok. it’s all scary stuff, but don’t let your human brother and sister get too strung out, show them how a brave dog acts and how quickly you will find your ‘new normal’. sending best wishes and looking forward to more of your story!!!

Welcome to you and Hunter! I’m sorry you had to find us here, but you won’t be sorry you did.
I hate to see the young ones come here with cancer. (What kind of cancer is it?) We were in the same boat, with our Abby being Dx with bone cancer at only 15 months. We lost her at 30 months old, but the 15 mo we had with her as a Tripawd was a wonderful, amazing time. I hope your pup will be cancer free once they get rid of that bad leg, but no matter what happens, he will amaze and inspire you as a Tripawd. It may not seem possible to love him more, but you will when you see how well he adapts.
I know this is a scary, overwhelming time, but you aren’t alone and, as you’ll soon see, being a tripawd pawrent is an awesome thing. Welcome!
Jackie, Angel Abby’s mom
Hey Hunter. We’re sorry you got bone cancer, that stinks. But you know what? You are a Pittie, you will overcome this thing like nopawdy’s business! Cancer sucks but it doesn’t have to rob you of the life you have in front of you. We hope your surgery goes well and that you hang out here more so we can get to know you. Keep us posted oK?
Wow, thanks everyone for all the love! It means a lot.
We’re not sure which type it is. We know it’s bone cancer and that
He needs to get rid of the leg either way. There’s two different types it’s either osteosarcoma or Chondrosarcoma. So we have to see which one it is to determine the treatment after the amputation.
Hi Hunter and welcome to the most wonderful family of Tripawds. I am fairly new myself, March 21. I do not know how I would have coped without the support of this community. I hope I can return some care and comfort to you.

Hello, this is Hunters mommy, Ashley.
I just wanted to thank all of you for the support.
Hunters surgery went very well & he came home today 🙂
He is still in lots of pain and I feel so horrible for making him go through this but I know it was the right thing to do.
He still looks as handsome as ever! I can’t wait till he is 100% and back to being a crazy little guy.
We still have some test results to wait on, we should be getting back the results next week to verify which type of bone cancer he has. I pray it’s the better of the two, if it can even be categorized as such. He is definitely my heart and I am so happy he has made his three legged footprints in it.
Once again, thank you all & updates soon!
Take care!
